Sease, Todd begin early work on Devlin title defense

Secession-5-31-2019For the opening round of the Devlin, Secession Golf Club in Beaufort, S.C., played just as it was designed to: firm and fast. South Carolinians Jordan Sease and Walt Todd started early on their title defense, logging an opening 64 for an immediate three-shot lead on the field.

Sease and Todd are former teammates at Winthrop. They went low a year ago, logging rounds of 65-66 in the first two days of four-ball, but went lower this year. The duo pulled away, however, in the third and final round when the format switches to combined score.

Don’t tell that to the winners of the Mid-Am Cannon Division, Walt Todd, Jr. and Jordan Sease., or the runners-up Jake Shaw and Mark Hanley. For their part, the Florida duo of Hanley and Shaw pulled up from the bottom third of the field to leaders in the clubhouse after posting rounds of 64 (Shaw) and 73 (Hanley).
